Living in Maple Crest

Researched July 2026 by our team · facts checked October 2026

Maple Crest — the marketed name for the Maple neighbourhood — occupies a smart position in southeast Edmonton: new enough that builders are still active, close enough to the finished Meadows district that the rec centre, library and retail already exist. The community is deliberately compact, organized around a central pond, naturalized wetlands and a trail spine, with townhomes, duplexes and laned single-family at the core, with front-garage homes on the larger lots. That mix makes Maple Crest a natural first-buyer and young-family community, and Whitemud Drive and Anthony Henday Drive form its northern and eastern edges. The insider angle: The Meadows recreation centre, library and shops are already built, about 2 km to the south-west in a straight line.

The community’s own amenity is its pond-and-wetland trail loop, which threads past playgrounds and connects toward the wider Meadows network. The heavier lifting happens to the south-west: The Meadows Community Recreation Centre (2704 17 Street NW) delivers pools, rinks, fitness and a library branch, while Tamarack Common (17 Street and 23 Avenue) covers groceries and daily errands. Mill Woods Town Centre and the Grey Nuns Community Hospital lie to the west. Drivers are well served — Whitemud Drive and Anthony Henday Drive form the community’s northern and eastern approaches, toward Sherwood Park (its centre is about 8 km away in a straight line) and South Edmonton Common’s big-box retail. It is a modest, well-connected package: Maple Crest does not try to be a destination.

  • Building now
New build or resale here?

Maple Crest offers both sides of the ledger in one community: active new construction in later phases and a growing pool of five-to-ten-year-old resale from the early ones. New builds bring warranty, current energy specifications and lot choice near the naturalized areas; early-phase resales frequently include finished landscaping and basements. Because the community is compact, the location difference between phases is minor — so the decision usually comes down to timing and total finished cost rather than address.

Questions buyers ask about Maple Crest

Is Maple Crest the same as Maple in Edmonton?

Yes. Maple is the City of Edmonton’s official neighbourhood name; Maple Crest is the developer’s marketed name for the same community in The Meadows district. Listings may use either, which is worth knowing when you set up search alerts — filtering on only one name can hide half the inventory.

What does a new home in Maple Crest cost?

On there were 25 homes for sale in Maple Crest on the MLS® System, starting at $298,800 (REALTORS® Association of Edmonton data). Pricing depends on product type, lot and specification: townhomes and duplexes sit at the entry level, with single-family homes above them. Builder pricing changes with each release — ask us for current price sheets.

Which schools are in or near Maple Crest?

Blair McPherson School (Edmonton Public Schools, K–9) next door in Tamarack, Father Michael Troy Catholic Junior High (Edmonton Catholic Schools, 7–9) in Wild Rose and Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School (public, 10–12) in Silver Berry. Check a specific address with each board’s school locator.

Is Maple Crest good for first-time buyers?

It suits many first buyers: townhome and duplex entry points, new-home warranty coverage, and an established rec centre, library and grocery anchor already operating nearby. The compromises are distance to downtown (about 12 km in a straight line) and no school inside the neighbourhood yet.

About this information. The guide’s text was researched July 2026; its facts were checked against official sources in October 2026. Distances are in a straight line from the centre of the outline on the map — to Edmonton City Hall for downtown, to the passenger terminal for the airport — rounded to the kilometre (those points © OpenStreetMap contributors); they are not driving distances, and the guides give no drive times. Homes for sale and the figures from them: the MLS® System (REALTORS® Association of Edmonton), read at 10:46 p.m. Edmonton time and rebuilt into this page every morning — homes only (houses, townhomes, condos and duplexes; no land, rentals or commercial listings).
