Living in Chérot

Researched July 2026 by our team · facts checked October 2026

Chérot is Rohit Communities’ new neighbourhood in northwest St. Albert, and the design cohesion shows. Named for Emile and Celestine Chérot, who married in France in 1909 and were in Canada by 1911 (cherot.ca), the neighbourhood in northwest St. Albert leans deliberately into French-countryside character — boulevard trees, consistent architectural controls and a walkable framework of trails and pocket parks. Rohit Communities develops the land, and the builders are Bedrock Homes, Blackstone Homes, Rohit Homes, San Rufo Homes and Justin Gray Homes (cherot.ca, October 2026); Rohit Homes includes designer-curated interiors as a standard rather than an upsell. A K–9 school for Chérot has provincial construction funding, though no opening date has been announced. Chérot suits buyers who want St. Albert’s schools, trail system and small-city polish with a genuinely new home. As Rohit’s internal partner, 7th Avenue Realty has direct visibility into Chérot inventory, specs and incentives.

Chérot connects into St. Albert’s trail and recreation systems. The community’s internal trails and parks link toward the Red Willow trail network, which follows the Sturgeon River through the city’s core. Servus Credit Union Place — St. Albert’s flagship recreation centre with pools, rinks and fieldhouse — is about 7 km to the east in a straight line, and Jensen Lakes Crossing and the Costco on St. Albert Trail are on the city’s north side. St. Albert’s farmers’ market, which its organizers bill as Canada’s largest outdoor farmers’ market, runs Saturdays downtown through the warm months. Ray Gibbon Drive leads south toward Anthony Henday Drive and Edmonton. The funded K–9 school will complete the family picture once it opens.

  • Building now
New build or resale here?

Chérot is a new-construction community first: resale exists only from the earliest phases, and it is scarce enough that new builds set the market. Early resales occasionally surface with landscaping and blinds complete, worth comparing on an all-in basis. Buyers wanting established schools within walking distance should weigh Jensen Lakes or mature St. Albert until Chérot’s school opens.

About this information. The guide’s text was researched July 2026; its facts were checked against official sources in October 2026. Distances are in a straight line from the centre of the outline on the map — to Edmonton City Hall for downtown, to the passenger terminal for the airport — rounded to the kilometre (those points © OpenStreetMap contributors); they are not driving distances, and the guides give no drive times. Homes for sale and the figures from them: the MLS® System (REALTORS® Association of Edmonton), read at 10:46 p.m. Edmonton time and rebuilt into this page every morning — homes only (houses, townhomes, condos and duplexes; no land, rentals or commercial listings).
