The Orchards at Ellerslie is Brookfield Residential’s orchard-themed master plan in southeast Edmonton, and its argument is simple: amenities first. The Orchards Club House gives residents an outdoor hockey rink, tennis and basketball courts, a splash park and year-round programming — fitness classes, karate, childcare and a seasonal farmers’ market (Brookfield Residential), and two schools already operate inside the community, so the “future school site” asterisk that haunts new neighbourhoods doesn’t apply here. Homes range from townhomes and laned starters to five-bedroom family homes. It suits young families who want schools open now, not in a decade, and buyers who value programmed community life — skating lessons, karate, fitness classes — over raw square footage. The insider angle: The Orchards sits beside Mattson, the new neighbourhood across 66 Street where Rohit Homes is building; if you like this pocket of the southeast, compare both (see our Mattson guide at /communities/mattson.html) before committing.
The Orchards Club House is the community’s living room: a hockey rink in winter, a splash park and tennis courts in summer, plus event spaces, childcare, programs from karate to fitness classes and a seasonal farmers’ market (Brookfield Residential). Orchard-themed parks and connecting trails thread the neighbourhood. Retail sits close by — shops along the Ellerslie Road corridor to the north cover daily errands, and South Edmonton Common is about 5 km away in a straight line. Anthony Henday Drive lies north of the community, and Summerside, with its residents’ lake, is the next neighbourhood over.
The Orchards has been building for over a decade, so it offers a real two-sided market. Early-phase resale homes (built from 2012) list with finished yards, established streets and immediate clubhouse access. New construction in the active phases buys current code, warranty and floor plans designed for how families actually live now — main-floor flex rooms, side entrances for future suites. The clubhouse membership follows the home either way.
As the guide lists them — designations follow your address
Designations follow the address — check a specific home with each board’s locator: Edmonton Public Schools — Find a School · Edmonton Catholic Schools — Locate Your School. Some Edmonton Public schools are full in some grades or use a lottery for new students; each school’s page on epsb.ca says which. School rankings: the Fraser Institute’s report card (on its own site).
We check school details against each board’s own published information and keep them as current as we can, but grades, programs, boundaries and enrolment can change at any time. Please confirm the details for a specific home directly with the school board before relying on them — school information here is a courtesy, not a guarantee.

Two schools operate inside the community: Jan Reimer School (Edmonton Public Schools, K–9) and Divine Mercy Catholic Elementary (Edmonton Catholic Schools, K–6). There is no senior high in the community; J. Percy Page (public) and Holy Trinity (Catholic) are senior highs in nearby Mill Woods. Designations follow the address — check a specific home with each board’s school locator.
The Club House is for Orchards residents through the Residents Association and includes an outdoor hockey rink, tennis and basketball courts, a splash park and childcare, with year-round programming like karate and fitness classes and a seasonal farmers’ market (Brookfield Residential). Budget for the association’s annual fee in your carrying costs.

Choosing the street matters as much as choosing the house. Tell us what your days look like, and we’ll show you the neighbourhoods that fit, and the homes in them.
About this information. The guide’s text was researched July 2026; its facts were checked against official sources in October 2026. Distances are in a straight line from the centre of the outline on the map — to Edmonton City Hall for downtown, to the passenger terminal for the airport — rounded to the kilometre (those points © OpenStreetMap contributors); they are not driving distances, and the guides give no drive times. Homes for sale and the figures from them: the MLS® System (REALTORS® Association of Edmonton), read at 10:46 p.m. Edmonton time and rebuilt into this page every morning — homes only (houses, townhomes, condos and duplexes; no land, rentals or commercial listings). City figures and the outline: City of Edmonton Open Data, read . Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – City of Edmonton. Tags come from the guide’s own text and those figures. We don’t rank neighbourhoods by safety; the Edmonton Police Service publishes its own data.
